1Cetearyl alcohol is not an alcohol in the sense of spirits, but a fatty alcohol made of plant oils and fats.

Propylene glycol is an adjuvant used in many products. It is not to be confused with polypropylene glycol. Also used in foodstuffs. This raw material has miraculous properties. In chemical terms it is polyvalent alcohol. Aside from water, such raw materials are among the most important solvents in cosmetic preparations. It is a reliable moisturiser for the skin. In low concentrations (as in our salves), propylene glycol improves the water retention of the skin.

Ingredients with “palmitate” (cetyl palmitate, sorbitan palmitate). These are the salts of palmitic acid that commonly occur in natural plant fats. Our raw materials are plant-based, moisturising consistency enhancers/emulsifiers made from olives. This “palmitate” does not come from palm oil.

4 Phenoxyethanol is a standard preservative (also used for the preservation of foodstuffs and cosmetics), and is even approved for natural cosmetics. Otherwise parabens are used as preservatives, but should be avoided in particular due to their significant hormonal effects. Adler Pharma therefore chose a compromise and uses phenoxyethanol as a preservative in some creams.

5Potassium sorbate is frequently used in the food industry as well.
